The Theme: 14 geometrical pieces of unknown origin and substance were said to have been found at the UFO crash site in Mage, Rio de Janeiro in 2020. Though the pieces have since mysteriously disappeared, a photograph revealed that 13 of those pieces generate a perfect square of nearly 5 inches. Created by Dan Robbins in the 1950s, Paint by Numbers kits were a cultural phenomenon that was embraced by millions of aspiring artists. A cross between a coloring book and a painting, these kits enabled even a novice painter to become a fine artist. The concept was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci, who used numbered patterns on canvas to teach his apprentices how to paint. Through these kits, Robbins made painting accessible to all, ‘Every man a Rembrandt’ as the packaging said.

This 1000 piece rectangular puzzle is a Paint by Numbers seascape with rich blue waves crashing on a rocky coastline. The original kit titled ‘Pounding Surf’ contained 40 oil colors which made it among the more detailed of the kits. One interesting aspect of this painting is the orange triangle on the rock in the bottom right corner, as that color was not included in the original kit.

The large number of colors and small details of the painting make this puzzle a satisfying challenge!

What is the real meaning of life and zen?

This was a question that seemingly stumped a master in a famous monastery. He said he didn't
know. Naturally, this caused a certain amount of concern, how can a master not know the answer to this? But it happened and he announced to his students that they were to go away and come back at the next gathering with their answers.

This is one of my favorite presentations with playing cards, and one I'm fairly known for within my circle of influence and to those I perform for. The story is what matters, the method is secondary, though I share different methods to accomplish this routine, all very easy, direct, and effective.
